Almost everyone thinks that Paruthiveeran (2007) is Karthik’s first screen appearance. But a true fan would know that it is not. He first appeared in Mani Ratnam’s Aaytha Ezhuthuas character Michael’s friend, played by his brother Suriya. He was a side character in the film, hence it was an uncredited role. Paruthiveeran is his debut film as the lead. To get a titular role in debut film would probably more than a dream for every newcomer. And Karthik aka Karthi did full justice to the role as the film was widely appreciated for his performances. He also won Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Tamil).
