After ‘Guppy’ John Paul ropes in Soubin for his next – Ambili

Director John Paul George hasn’t had a great debut. His first project, ‘Guppy’ fell badly at the box office. However, both the director and movie resurrected, when the movie reached online spaces. The Tovino Thomas starrer was subject to heavy discussions among movie buffs. Soon then, the movie earned a cult status amongst serious movie goers, who repeatedly expressed their regret over not watching the movie in theatres. In an exciting news for all of those who loved ‘Guppy’, director John Paul has announced his next directorial venture. Titled ‘Ambili’, the movie has got Soubin Shahir essaying the central character’s role.

While announcing the project, the director has unveiled the first look poster of ‘Ambili’. Announcing the movie through his social media corners, he maintained that the movie would introduce two new faces to Malayalam cinema. Sharing equal importance with Soubin Shahir in the movie, actor Naveen Nazim would be making his debut in the movie. Similarly, the movie would introduce a new heroine – Tanvi Ram. He maintained that the movie would be presented in a realistic manner. John Paul further added that he was trying to bring out some characters, which spread light and love around the world. While stating about the project, he stressed the importance of the existence of such character in today’s world of politics, which spreads hatred.

Though he should have been disheartened over the debacle of ‘Guppy’ at the box office, the director however, chose a different route. Rather than expressing sadness over the fate of his debut flick, John Paul however expressed happiness over the fact that the movie turned out to be discussed by movie buffs round the corner. Well, it is been two years since ‘Guppy’ happened. Time must have effaced his wounds. ‘Ambili’ would be produced by Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathi – the same team, which had produced ‘Guppy’. Before concluding, he didn’t forget to covey a very warmth Vishu wish for everyone.
