I am not a dead commodity, says Rani Mukherji

Hichki has brought a fresh lease of air to Bollywood, which was suffering from stereotyped roles and movies. And Rani Mkherji is probably the happiest person in the town right now. Hichki gave the actress scope for doing a challenging role, that of a teacher suffering from Tourette syndrome. The actress made it to perfection that critics and industry have already started lauding her strong performance. It was an entirely different experience from the actress, who was last seen in ‘Mardaani’, in which she appeared as a fearless police officer – which had an entirely different mood and temper. With Hichki making the presence felt in box office collections as well, it seems like Rani Mukherji finally decided to speak something about the project.

When queried about how she sees the success of the project, Rani Mukherji maintained that she was extremely happy for the kind of response, which ‘Hichki’ has evoked in theatres. While the movie might not have made a huge business like the films of superstars, ‘Hichki’ certainly has given a strong message that content driven movies do have the space in film industry. Well, ask Rani Mukherji about her perception of the movie. The actress was quick to respond that ‘Hichki’ has really broken the image that married actresses were dead commodities. That was a strong comment from a strong lady! While elaborating her point, Rani said that films were not only meant for entertaining people. According to her films like ‘Hichki’ serves multiple purposes and makes difference in the lives of people.

She went onto thank the social media for the kind of support, it had given to ‘Hickhi’. Adding that social media tools have helped her connecting with the emotions of commoners, Rani Mukherji was also different from the rest in a way. You won’t find many stars, who love the term ‘comeback’; well, Rani Mukherji is different and she commented that ‘Hichki’ was her coming back vehicle.
