Director Jayaraj’s Bhayanakam has gone onto win acclaim at the recently held ‘Beijing International Film Festival’. The movie has gone onto win the award under the category of ‘Best Cinematography’. A national award, the award is yet another feather on the cap for cinematographer Nikhil S Praveen. However, it was Jayaraj, who received the prize for Nikhil S Praveen.
Based on the novel of Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Bhayanakam is all about the happenings in Kuttanad, during the eve of the Second World War. Starring Renji Panicker in the lead role, the movie had Asha Sarath, Vavachan, Kumarakam Vasudevan and Sabitha Jayaraj appearing in other pivotal roles. During the recent National – State award ceremonies, the movie had a bagged quite a number of awards.
