Off late, Mollywood has braced big budget movies and is riding high on the successes of the likes of Lucifer and Pulimurugan, both of which have opened new business avenues for the industry. Incidentally, a major chunk of the reason for the box office riots of both these movies, has been attributed to the stardom of Mohanlal, notwithstanding the craftsmanships of the respective film directors. Now, yet another mega budgeted project is getting ready in the background with the star in the lead role – Kunjali Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham.
Already made its presence in the news columns for the grandeur, this Priyadarshan directorial is reportedly going to heighten the bar of performance for Malayalam movies. If we are to believe the industry insider reports, then the movie is making huge pre release business. Recently, the GCC rights of the project, has been acquired by ‘Phars Cinema’ for an amount that clocks INR 10 Cr. If the report is ture, then the movie has comfortably surpassed the existing record for the distribution rights of a Malayalam movie in GCC region. Two Mohanlal movies – Lucifer and Ittymani: Made in China holds the current record, with an amount clocking INR 8Cr. Having completed the production phase, movie is briskly progressing the post production works, and might hit big screens this year itself.
