The proposed price hike of movie tickets has received flaks from the industry. Industry experts are of the opinion that the revised rate would only help audience to get away from movie theatres. While speaking on the incident, director – producer Sohan Roy opined that the statement made by the finance minister about entertainment tax, was quite misleading.
The implementation of GST and subsequent revisions in the state local body entertainment tax slab, will result in the ticket price hitting INR 125 mark, for a ticket, which costs INR 113. Sohan Roy also lased out the state government for wrongly accusing GST for the effective decrease in the entertainment income of the state.
