With Sajid Yahiya directorial ‘Mohanlal’ was getting ready to brace the big screens this Vishu, here comes an unexpected twist to the story. Thrissur Fast Court has issued a stay order for the movie, over a complaint filed by Kalavoor Ravikumar. According to the complaint filed by Kalavoor Ravikumar, the movie has allegedly copied the essence of his story, titled ‘Mohanlaline Enikkippol Bhayankara Pediyaanu’. Kalavoor Ravikumar had already filed a complaint at FEFKA, pointing out the same. The movie, which is been scripted by Suneesh Varanad, is based on the story penned by Kalavoor Ravikumar.
Starring lady superstar Manju Warrier as the heroine, ‘Mohanlal’ has managed to create buzz in the town, when the teasers and songs got released. That said, this Sajid Yahiya directorial had created an interest amongst the movie goers, ever since the project got announced. According to Kalavoor Ravikumar, his story was used without taking prior permission from him. Adding that he had no grudge whatsoever with the makers of ‘Mohanlal’, the author however made it clear that he had faced similar cheatings in the past as well. When the controversy had popped up earlier, Sajid Yahiya had come up with explaining his version of the story. According to Yahiya, the complainant was taking advantage of the situation and was doing, nothing but defaming his project.
With the movie receiving stay order, it is going to be extremely tough for the makers of ‘Mohanlal’ to hit big screens this Vishu. According to the earlier plans, the movie was all set to hit big screens on April 13 – A day before Vishu. Set to lock horns with a number of projects, ‘Mohanlal’ is also one of the most anticipated projects of recent times in Malayalam cinema. Apart from Manju Warrier, the movie also stars Indrajith in an important role, while a number of familiar faces too have made their presence felt in ‘Mohanlal’.
