Kadam Kadha Movie Review : Rating 3/5

Have you ever wondered about the magic, with which your parents managed to meet both ends all the time? Most probably not, until you have started leading a mature life. We have heard many philosophical comments, all of which undermine the importance of money in life; but, is it possible to undervalue currency beyond an extent? Well, never! ‘Kadam Kadha’ throws light to some life like situations, which you ought to have come across in your life.

The story of ‘Kadam Kadha’ is quite simple. Giri (Vinay Forrt) and Cletus (Joju George), happened to meet each other, during their life, which has never been a bed of roses. Now, is ‘Kadam Kadha’ that simple, to be simply analysed in a single sentence? I should admit that it is not! It is here that a debutant director like Senthil Raj strikes a chord with real life instances and makes the movie engaging throughout. Be it the main protagonists or the second rung of characters, they all have had their place in the script of Philip Siji. For instance, the character of Sreekumar (Renji Panicker) is the one, who paves the way for both Giri and Cletus to get out of their long list of singeing cramps. However, their problems won’t be solved with just one Sreekumar.

Through Sreekumar, both Giri and Cletus are destined to meet some interesting people, who all contribute their part to nurse the duo’s problems. After a certain level of cognition with the messy lives of Giri and Cletus, we almost reach in on a conclusion as far as where the movie is heading to. After that, we are only interested in knowing how Senthil Raj abridges the story. In due course, he throws light to a whole lot of familiar faces (in the sense that we have seen them somewhere down the lane). In fact there is nothing extra ordinary happening there in ‘Kadam Kadha’. Everything goes usual, unless if you count those moments of accidental coincidences, which are better left unsolved; I would rather count them as the pranks of a mystery called life, which we are all leading in our own way.

The movie has a number of familiar names essaying more or less equally important roles. From the leading protagonists Vinay Forrt and Joju George, we have some lifelike etchings in the form of Renji Panicker, Srinda Ashab, Roshan Mathew, Veena Nandakumar, Manikandan, Sinoj and to name the rest. The technical department too worked in tandem with the vision of Senthil Raj, while Deepankuran’s music aids in between moments. Tinged with humour, the movie finally reminds us an important philosophy – ‘There are far bigger and important things in life than money’.
