Varalaxmi Sarathkuamr seems to have started increasingly concentrating on acting these days. The actress has bagged quite a number of roles across various languages and also started getting appreciatory notes from critics. Well, the actress has joined with debutant director Manoj Kumar Natarajan for a film. Titled ‘Velvet Nagarm’, the film is touted to be a female centric project. Essentially a thriller in nature, the movie is bankrolled by ‘Makers Studio’. An official confirmation is expected to be out as far as the cast and crew members of ‘Velvet Nagaram’ are considered. Along with Varalaxmi, the movie also stars Malavika Sunder and Prakash Raghavan in other important roles.
According to the reports, Varalaxmi would be playing a character, named Usha. Usha is a journalist, who works in Kodaikanal. Her character is been developed as someone, who fights for tribal communities. Sources close to the project, inform that the film is based on some true incidents, which have taken place in the Hills. Makers, when quizzed about the project, commented that the movie follows the incidents taking place within a time span of 48 hours. Though already started rolling, it was couple of days before, which Varalaxmi has joined the location. Essentially a psychological thriller, director Manoj Kumar Natarajan is all expecting to make his big entry with ‘Velvet Nagaram’. Though a debutant, he has already proved his mettle with an 18 minute short film, titled ‘Benjamin’. The uncoiling of a murder mystery taking place in a restaurant, was well appreciated by the media and critics.
Meanwhile, Varalaxmi is part of two biggies, which are lined up towards the later part of this year. The first one is Vijay – Murugadoss project, in which she would be playing a character with a negative shade. On the other hand, the Dhanush starring ‘Maari 2’ too has got an interesting role for Varalaxmi. Well, ‘Mr Chandramouli’ and ‘Sandakozhi 2’ are the two other projects, in which she is part of.
