Bigg Boss is arguably one of the most popular TV shows in India right now. The TV show, which the Indian version of original Dutch Big Brother, got kick started in Hindi in the year 2006. However, it was with the entry of Bollywood Megastar Salman Khan in 2010, which it reached its current popularity level. Owing to the popularity of the show, it was subsequently made into various regional languages as well. It seems like the popular TV show is venturing into Malayalam finally. When the show is finally coming to Malayalam, the show is going to be hosted by none other than superstar Mohanlal.
Though we are yet to get an official note in this regard from either the star or that of show organizers, it is widely believed that Mohanlal is onboard. Earlier too we seen many reports regarding Bigg Boss having a Malayalam version. Several names were heard in association with the show – Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and to name the rest. Since Suresh Gopi has already made his presence felt in the mini screen with ‘Ningalkkum Aakam Kodeeshwaran’, many considered him to be the right one for Malayalam Bigg Boss. However, with the actor turning busy with his political activities, organizers have reportedly moved on from the star. Mohanlal too has ventured to the mini screen, when he started hosting the show ‘Lal Salam’ in Amrita TV. Well, as was reported by media corners, the Malayalam version of Bigg Boss would kick start by the last week of June.
Bigg Boss in each regional film industry, was hosted by one of the most popular stars in respective industries. It was Jr.NTR, Kamal Haasan, Kiccha Sudeep, who hosted the show respectively in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Though invited criticisms from some corners, all the versions of Bigg Boss earned record TRP. It has to be seen whether the concept is going to find takers amongst the Malayalee audiences.
